My name is Cherie Jones. I have been an advocate for Domestic Violence for three years. After The Storm was birthed through the experience of myself and my four children. In 2006, we escaped our abuser by moving to a Domestic Violence Shelter in another city. We had to stay in the shelter for a few months until we were able to secure safe housing almost 200 miles from our hometown. We had to leave everything that was familiar to us: our home, job, school, church and all of my children's extra curricular activities. We only had the clothes on our backs and our car. While resources were available to help us to find housing, clothes and food, there was not a support system for us. Because we were in hiding, we could not make contact with family members or friends. We were not willing to risk anyone revealing our location. After The Storm offers a women's support group as well as education and empowerment...After The Storm.
